Cloud 9 vs Seventh Heaven: which Fiji floating platform is right for you?
Fiji has two famous floating platforms anchored over the reefs of the Mamanuca Islands, about an hour by boat from Port Denarau. Both make a brilliant day out. They suit slightly different travellers, though, so here is how our Nadi team explains the difference to guests.

Cloud 9: the famous one
Cloud 9 is the two-storey floating bar and pizzeria that put Fiji’s floating platforms on Instagram. You swim and snorkel straight off the deck over the reef, order wood-fired pizza and cocktails, and spend the day on the sun loungers. It gets busy and social, especially in the afternoon, which is exactly why many people love it.
Want the whole platform to yourselves? Cloud 9 can be hired privately for weddings, birthdays and retreats. See Cloud 9 exclusive hire.
Seventh Heaven: more space, better value
Seventh Heaven is the newer platform. It has more room to spread out and a more relaxed pace, and your food and drinks voucher is built into the price, so it is the better-value choice if you mainly want to swim, eat and unwind. See the Seventh Heaven day trip →
Which should you choose?
- Choose Cloud 9 if you want the famous experience, a party atmosphere and great photos.
- Choose Seventh Heaven if you want more space, a calmer day and better value.
- Travelling with young children? A full island day such as South Sea Island usually works better, with a beach, kayaks and a semi-sub.
Tips from our team
- Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a rash vest and a waterproof phone pouch.
- The morning boats usually have the calmest water.
- Book a few days ahead in school holidays. Both platforms cap guest numbers.
- Pair it with a quiet day: the Sabeto mud pools and Garden of the Sleeping Giant is perfect the day after.
